Warehouse & industrial lighting
Featured: Thanos UFO high bay, 200W
38 000 lumens for warehouses, factories and high ceilings. One fitting, set to 200W, 150W or 100W on site. Scroll to take it apart.
Inside the Thanos
A sealed driver on top, a die-cast heatsink in the middle and the optics underneath.
01 Eye bolt & fixings
A threaded eye bolt takes a hook or chain straight from the roof structure. For surface or angled mounting, a U-bracket is available.
02 Driver housing
The driver sits on four posts above the heatsink, away from the LED heat. Unscrew the front cap to set it to 200W, 150W or 100W.
03 Heatsink
Radial fins carry heat away from the LED board. That is how it holds its output for 50 000 hours at L90B20.
04 LED board
Rings of LiteON SMD5050 chips reach 190 lm/W: 38 000 lumens at full 200W power.
05 Gasket
A continuous gasket between the lens and the heatsink keeps out dust and water jets, so it suits dusty production floors and cold stores.
06 Lens
Each LED has its own lens that shapes an even beam. Choose 90° for high ceilings, 110° to spread wider below about 7 m. The whole fitting is rated IK10.
Mounting 1 · Suspended
The threaded eye bolt takes a hook, chain or wire rope straight from a roof beam or truss. Set the drop to the mounting height you need, with no extra brackets.
Mounting 2 · Surface or angled
The U-bracket bolts to the driver housing in place of the eye bolt, for fixing to a ceiling, wall or steel. Tilt it on the side knobs to aim the light.
Reassembled
38 000 lumens from one fitting, with a 5-year warranty behind it.
Lighting by application
Any space with a ceiling of about 6 m or more is usually lit with high bays. Find yours below: each answer gives the light level to aim for and the fitting we would start with.
Bulk storage and open floor areas under a high roof. UFO high bays on a regular grid give even light between the racks and across the floor.
Assembly, production lines and machine areas need more light and low glare. A 90° optic keeps light on the work, and IK10 stands up to a busy floor.
Truck depots, bus depots and logistics sheds have high roofs and open bays. High bays light the shed; for the yard outside, use floodlights.
Narrow aisles between tall racking light best with a linear high bay and an aisle optic, which puts light on the rack faces rather than the tops.
Low temperatures and condensation call for a sealed fitting that starts instantly in the cold. The Thanos runs down to -30°C and is sealed to IP65.
Vehicle workshops, fitting shops and maintenance bays need high light levels for detailed work, often from lower mounting heights.
Indoor courts, gyms and multipurpose halls need even, low-glare light. Impact-rated fittings handle stray balls.
Large-format stores with exposed roofs light well with high bays or T-bays, which keep the ceiling clean and the aisles bright.
Fuel forecourts and covered loading canopies use a flat canopy light. Open yards and depot aprons are lit with floodlights on poles or walls.

On-site switch
Order one product for the whole building. A switch under the driver cap sets each fitting to suit its ceiling height, so you never swap stock between areas.
Running costs
Most buildings are over-lit somewhere. Setting each Thanos to the output its area needs cuts the electricity bill without changing a single fitting. Compare the three settings against the 400W metal halide high bays they usually replace.
Energy only, at the rated input power. Metal halide is taken as 450W per fitting including control gear. Your tariff varies with the time of use and your supply agreement: put in your own figure.

Photometry
Every setting has been tested on an EVERFINE goniophotometer. Pick a setting to see its light distribution, then download the IES or LDT file for your lighting design software.
Directly below: 187 lux · the beam covers a 21.5 m circle at floor level
Figures are measured values from the IES files, so they can differ slightly from the rated values in the datasheet. Floor figures come from the peak intensity and the inverse-square law, for a single fitting with no reflections.

Buying guide
Four decisions settle most high bay projects: the light level the work needs, the mounting height, the beam and the environment.
Light is measured on the floor or work surface in lux. Bulk storage needs far less than assembly or inspection, and specifying more than the task needs just costs energy. The table gives typical targets.
High bays are built for ceilings from about 6 m. The higher the fitting, the more lumens each one needs and the further apart they can go. As a guide, the Thanos covers roughly 6 m to 13 m, and the Lumina goes higher.
A narrower beam keeps light on the floor from a high ceiling; a wider one spreads it from a lower one. Choose 90° from about 7 m and 110° below. Narrow racking aisles light best with a linear high bay and an aisle optic, which puts light onto the rack faces rather than the tops.
Dust, moisture, cold and forklifts all decide the rating you need. IP65 keeps out dust and water jets and IK10 withstands impact. Read our IP ratings guide for what each rating means in practice.
| Area | Typical target |
|---|---|
| Warehouse, bulk storage | 100 to 150 lx |
| High racking aisles (manned) | 150 lx |
| Loading bays | 150 lx |
| Packing and dispatch | 300 lx |
| Factory, general assembly | 300 lx |
| Retail, big-box sales floor | 300 lx |
| Sports hall, training | 300 lx |
| Workshop, fine work | 500 lx |
Typical maintained illuminance from EN 12464-1 (workplaces) and EN 12193 (sports). In South Africa, SANS 10114-1 applies. Tell us the standard your project is specified to and we will design to it.
Replacing metal halide? A 400W metal halide fitting draws about 450W with its gear. A Thanos at 200W typically replaces it at under half the power, with no warm-up delay. Work out your own saving with our ROI calculator, or read LED high bays vs traditional lighting.
FAQ
For ceilings of about 6 m and higher, LED high bays are the standard choice. Warehouses are usually lit to 100 to 150 lux and factory production areas to about 300 lux. A UFO high bay such as the Thanos suits open floors, and a linear high bay suits narrow racking aisles.
Inside a truck, bus or logistics depot, high bays mounted in the roof light the shed and service bays. The yard and aprons outside are lit with floodlights on poles or walls, and covered fuel or loading canopies with canopy lights.
Yes. We supply contractors and specifiers on public and private projects with datasheets, IES and LDT files, full lighting designs and, per model on request, test reports and NRCS Letters of Authority. A copy-ready specification clause for the Thanos is on this page.
It depends on the floor area, the mounting height and the light level the work needs. As a rule of thumb, general warehousing is lit to about 150 lux and packing or assembly areas to about 300 lux. Use the layout estimator on this page for a first count, then send us your floor plan and we will confirm it with a full lighting design.
High bays are made for ceilings from about 6 m upwards. Below that, a low bay or a linear fitting usually gives more even light. The Thanos covers roughly 6 m to 13 m; above 13 m the Lumina (320W or 480W) often does the job with fewer fittings.
Higher ceilings need a narrower beam to put the light on the floor instead of the walls. A 90 degree optic suits mounting heights of about 7 m and above; 110 degrees spreads wider and suits lower ceilings. The Thanos is available with either optic.
The driver has a switch under a screw cap, so one fitting can run at 200W, 150W or 100W (or 150W, 120W or 80W on the 150W model). You can order one product for the whole building and set each fitting on site to suit its ceiling height.
A 400W metal halide fitting draws about 450W with its gear. A Thanos set to 200W puts out 38 000 lumens, which typically replaces it at under half the power, with no warm-up delay. Use our ROI calculator for your own running hours and tariff.
The Thanos is sealed to IP65 against dust and water jets, rated IK10 for impact and runs from -30 degrees C to 50 degrees C, so it suits cold storage, dusty production areas and busy loading bays.
The Thanos carries a 5-year warranty and is rated for 50 000 hours at L90B20. Warranty on other models is listed on each product page.
Yes. Every Thanos power setting and optic has been tested on a goniophotometer, and the IES and LDT files are free to download on this page for your lighting design software.
